The Value of Peer Editing

Page history last edited by PBworks 14 years ago

The wiki is an excellent tool that students can use to collaborate online. We are using the wiki primarily for peer editing. You are sharing your essays, both individual and group, with others so that they can offer you helpful suggestions for improving your essays and you can offer suggestions to them.

Why is peer editing a valuable exercise?

Research has shown that students improve their writing skills if they are given serious opportunities to edit the work of their peers. It is usually much easier to see the problems with someone else's writing than to see problems with your own. By honing your skills editing the work of others, you will become more proficient editing your own work.

So please take these editing assignments very seriously. You ought to see an improvement in your own writing as a result.
